Giannis Chondros

Was born on May 7, 1984 in the small town of Kalampaka, under the impressive rocks of Meteora.

Originating from the village of Koryfi or Kapro, west of Mount Hatzi next to the Acheloos river, he was exposed from a young age in the mountainous terrain of Pindos and initiated his love for the mountains and exploration.

In 2006-2010 he studied Forestry and Natural Environment Management at the TEI of Thessaly. Additionally he attended numerous related courses over the years, completing successfully all the required stages of training (mountain schools, seminars and internships) in order to expand his knowledge and professional activity in the mountainous areas of the country.

He has collaborated with agencies and institutions for the research and mapping of biodiversity. Since 2010 he has been working as a Mountain Guide, providing his knowledge and services to Greek and foreign hikers and nature lovers. He is operating mainly in the mountains of Pindos, Olympus and Meteora.

He has participated in a series of collective actions of social and environmental character in Greece and abroad whilst actively seeking and tracing abandoned paths and observing-recording the biodiversity of the mountain range.

He is married and a father of one, he lives with his partner and their child in Kalambaka, while he is involved in a variety of mountain related areas and projects (research, group escort, social contribution).

In 2020, he joined the Terra Pindus team, with the aim to update recorded and explore new elements of mountain biodiversity, as well as contributing in the construction of Pindus Trail and branches.
